'About Jason Varitek'

Jason Varitek nicknamed “The Captain” has played his entire Major League career with the Boston Red Sox. Jason Varitek is a three time All-Star and a Golden Glove Award winner. Jason Varitek won his first Silver Slugger Award in 2005. Jason Varitek was a part of the 2004 World Series and the 2007 World Series Championship Teams. Jason Varitek is one of only two players in the history of baseball to have played in the World Championship game of the Little League World Series, the National Championship game of the College World Series and the in Major League World Series. Jason Varitek is the only player in the history of baseball to also have played in the World Baseball Classic and on the Olympic Baseball Team along with the three mentioned World Series. Jason Varitek was the first Boston Red Sox catcher to catch 1,000 games. In May of 2008, Jason Varitek broke a Major League record of having caught four separate no-hitters in his career. At the end of the 2007 season Jason Varitek finished with 71 walks, 68 RBI’s and 17 home-runs.  In honor of being team captain Jason Varitek released Captain Cabernet which is a charity wine with the proceeds benefiting Pitching In For Kids and Children’s Hospital of Boston.
